With all of the recording options available to songwriters now and with the competitive nature of song plugging, the day of playing and singing your song live for A&R or offering a simplistic recording of it to producers and artists is gone. Writers are posting new material on their MySpace pages looking for co-writers, publishers and cuts. Organizations like TAXI allow you to act as your own publisher and pitch directly to producers and artists. Therefore, you have to compete with what the major publishing houses are pitching to those same producers and artists. That means a full demo with a top notch singer.

At Kim Copeland Productions, we book only the top A-session players to play for our clients. And we use a minimum of a 5 piece band. Why? Because the creativity and quality that you get from that many highly skilled musicians all focusing on your song at the same time can not be equaled by one or two musicians and a drum machine.
